About the Miller Family
Clay Miller is a 1985 graduate of the University of Michigan (Economics) and were a member of the University of Michigan football team and a five-year letterman. In his senior year, Clay was named as an All-Big Ten tackle and earned Academic All-Big Ten and Academic All-American honors. Clay was also a recipient of an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship
Clay was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1986, and after a brief attempt at pro football, attended Northwestern University School of Law, graduating with honors in 1989. Early in his career, Clay practiced law with the law firm of Shearman & Sterling in New York and London, focusing on mergers and acquisitions and leveraged buyouts before returning to Harvard Business School, where he earned his Masters of Business Administration (cum laude) in 1995. Following business school, Clay entered the private equity business, working at private equity firms in Houston and Minneapolis prior to co-founding Stone Arch Capital, a Minneapolis-based private equity firm, in 2004. Clay is currently a partner and co-manager of the firm. Stone Arch Capital manages a series of middle-market focused private equity investment funds with over $400 million in committed capital under management.
Lisa Miller graduated from the University of Michigan in 1986, with an A.B. in Managing Human Resources. Lisa began her career with American Airlines, working as a corporate training consultant, as well as an operational supervisor in Chicago and then New York. After moving from New York to London, she earned her M.A. in human resources, with an emphasis in organizational behavior and management development in 1993 from Kingston Business School in England. Upon completion of her graduate degree, she moved to Boston, where she worked as a senior quality advisor for the Bank of Boston, managing and leading change by providing consultation to senior management throughout the corporation linking key business objectives to customer focus. In 1995 Lisa started her own consulting company, Corporate Consulting, providing professional training and facilitation services for senior executives and line management personnel.
The Millers currently resides in Minneapolis, MN and have two daughters. One who is now attending Marshall School of Business at USC. The other is a junior at Michigan majoring in Screen Arts and Social Media.
